Chabad of Maine is a vibrant, welcoming center for Jewish life, learning, and connection across Southern Maine. Directed by Rabbi Levi and Hindy Wilansky, Chabad is dedicated to strengthening Jewish identity, nurturing community, and sharing the warmth, joy, and depth of Judaism with every Jew — regardless of background, affiliation, or level of observance.
Rooted in the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, our mission is simple: to bring light, meaning, and belonging to every Jew in Maine. We believe that every person is a world, every mitzvah matters, and every act of kindness ripples outward to uplift our entire community.
What We Do
From immersive holiday experiences and creative children’s programming to adult learning opportunities and pastoral care, Chabad of Maine serves as a hub of Jewish life for families, individuals, students, and seniors. Our programs include:

Synagogue & Holiday Events – Engaging services, joyful celebrations, and meaningful traditions brought to life for all ages.

Gan Israel & Youth Programs – A nurturing Preschool, vibrant Kids Programs, and Camp Gan Israel that instill pride, knowledge, and love for Judaism.

Adult Education – Weekly classes, JLI courses, Lunch & Learns, Women's Circle, and opportunities to explore Judaism’s wisdom in a thoughtful and relevant way.

Community Support & Chesed – Hospital visits, counseling, Jewish resources, and practical support for individuals and families in times of need.

Kitchen of Kindness – A new initiative providing kosher meals, comfort, dignity, and Jewish warmth to those facing food insecurity or isolation.
